STATE SCHOOLS

GENERAL INFORMATION

State schools are government-funded and provide free education to pupils between the ages of 3 and 18 in the UK. There are various types of state schools, such as local authority maintained schools, academies with their own curriculum, and grammar schools (in which they select their pupils based on academic ability and entrance test result).

WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR ADMISSION?

Admission to State Schools in the UK is limited to children between the ages of 5 and 16 who are nationals of the UK and are eligible to hold a full UK passport, or those who have the right of residence in the UK.
